~Welcome to my Studio and Nest~
I have had a few people say they would like to be a
fly on the wall in my studio...I hope that was not
you that I just swatted!...hehehe :)
When we moved here to the farm in 1995, this room
was a sleeping porch
with one multi-colored antique red brick wall and three wood walls and
ceiling
painted country blue. Sorry, but blue is not my color. There was
indoor-outdoor
carpet on the floor, ten windows and a sliding glass patio door.
We used this as our bedroom. It was hot in
the summer and cold in the winter.
After a couple of years, we replaced the windows with double paned insulated
windows, painted all the walls and ceiling country white, put up insulated
drapes and mini blinds, had two central heat and air vents put in,
installed new carpet, replaced the ceiling fan and built a book case.
Oh what a difference it made in this space. After moving our bedroom furniture into the
master bedroom suite, this sleeping porch became my studio and nest.
I am delighted to share some pictures with you while it is half way cleaned
up,
because normally this looks like a *disaster area*!
This is the door from the utility room onto the porch. As you
can tell, Christmas is still in the air and it is August.
This antique Hoosier Cabinet is
storage for one of my three sewing machines
and my serger along with some of my sewing supplies.

Our
precious Toby is blind now but he is one of my constant studio/nest companions
along with one of our cats, Dinky Sugar

I
will not tell you how many times I have stumped or broken my
toes on this sweet footstool. That's one of my
knitting projects in progress.

This
antique crank phonograph was made by the Thomas A. Edison
Company and has been in the family for many years.
Poppa's dad used to listen to it when he was a child.
His dad was born in 1905. I am still researching the age of this piece.

Our
son recovered this old cedar chest from one of his rental properties.
He was going to haul it to the dump but thought I might want it.
A new coat of paint on the bottom and some bun feet makes
a great piece for fabric storage and sitting to watch the weather.
I love to sit there and watch the rain (or snow which is rare).
Some day I plan to paint something on the front of it; maybe angels.

How
did we ever get along without computers?
It was tough!

This
closet is just like Fibber McGee's closet for those old enough
to remember that radio show (before television). He would open
his closet door and you could hear things falling forever.
This closet contains printing, office supplies,
photography equipment and lots of other *stuff*.

I
love books and magazines; reference material.
It is always nice to exercise on my bicycle after a
long busy day of creating...

which
brings us back to the door where we started.
I love my nest. I am quite happy and content to
spend time in this sweet room.
Thanks for looking!
